CedarSky.com is an online store which carries traditional
Lebanese foods and gifts. The name "CedarSky" has its
roots in the cedar trees of Lebanon. "Lebanese cedars,
also known as Arz al Rab (the Cedars of the Lord), are
known for their deep purple wood, their hardiness, and
their height. They are said to be close to God because
they grow on high mountains, and so reach up into the
heavens."
The wood of these trees was used to craft the Sarcophagi
and sun-ships of the Egyptian Pharoahs, the temple and
palace of King Solomon, and the homes and galleys of the
Greeks. The name "CedarSky" brings to mind the
Lebanese landscape, where magnificent forests of cedars
grow atop snow covered-mountains, reaching into the
clear, blue sky.
The cedar has special significance to the Phoenician
people, not only because the trees grew on their land,
but also because it was from the wood of these trees that
they fashioned the bodies and masts of their ships, which
enabled them to travel to different nations to spread and
trade products, languages, and ideas, connecting peoples
and civilizations through commerce. As a modern-day
descendent of the Phoenicians, I continue their tradition
of cultural cross-pollination by offering you a variety of
Lebanese products at my online store. All products are
made in Lebanon by Lebanese natives.
